On Wednesday, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange returned to his home in Australia. He admitted to obtaining and publishing military secrets in a deal with prosecutors from the Justice Department. The American commonwealth in the Pacific Ocean is relatively close to M. Assange’s native Australia. He was accompanied by Australian Ambassador to the United States Kevin Rudd and High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Stephen Smith, both of whom played key roles in negotiating his freedom with London and Washington. The flights were covered by the Assange team, said Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles. He is expected to continue the campaign for freedom of speech and transparency in government, his lawyer Barry Pollack told reporters outside the Saipan Court. The 52-year-old has spent five years in a British prison fighting the extradition to the US. He will be able to spend quality time with his wife Stella and his two children, said his father John Shipton in a statement.
